Comic Book Tropes: The Circus of Crime

For this week’s episode of “Because Comics,” I ended up re-reading the original six issues of “The Incredible Hulk” (because they are just so bananas), and noticed something odd… In one of the issues, the Hulk fights an evil gang of circus folk, and I realized that circuses show up a LOT in comic books, and that most of your favorite heroes have fought an evil gang of circus folk at some time or another.

Why I Game – Playing In Other Systems (Part One)

This year is the 40th anniversary of Dungeons and Dragons. So, in celebration of that, and in light of the fact that D&D is releasing a new edition this summer, I’m posting some stories I have of playing Dungeons and Dragons and other role-playing games.

Today I’m going to talk about a few of those “other role-playing games” I’m always referring to. While my gaming group has primarily focused on D&D, we have taken time out to play in other systems over the years. Sometimes it’s simply a one-off, like our Halloween session of the zombie game “All Flesh Must Be Eaten.” Other times, it is an entire campaign, and the first of these was the super-villain game, “Necessary Evil.”

Teasing Jeffrey About Breaking Bad (Text Message)

A bit of context, and some Breaking Bad season 2 spoilers:

My friend and roommate Jeffrey (who has a tumblr blog, check it out), was catching up on “Breaking Bad.” (I’ve also been trying to get him to watch “Scooby-Doo: Mystery Inc.” and “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” but had less success.)

He watched season 2  of Breaking Bad while I was visiting Ireland, and sent me back a very frantic email about what happened to Danny Trejo’s character in season 2.

When I got back, I responded with this message:
